Manolo Blahnik opens debut boutique in Milan
The new Manolo Blahnik boutique in Milan is the brand's first Italian store. Located on Via Pietro Verri, it occupies two floors and covers over 90 square meters.
The boutique's design pays homage to Blahnik's late mother, with the interior inspired by the monochrome aesthetic of her black-and-white tiled kitchen in Spain. A fan of Constantin Brancusi, Blahnik also filled the boutique with elements taken from the Parisian abstract sculptor's work, "The Endless Column." The column's austere elegance and rhythmically repeating geometric shapes echo Blahnik's signature heels.
To celebrate the boutique's opening, three exclusive shoe models will be added to its selection. All Manolo Blahnik shoes are made in Italy at the Re Marcello factory in Vigevano, near Milan. The company acquired Re Marcello in 2019, retaining the artisans and staff with whom it had worked for many years.
The opening of the Mitlan store coincides with Manolo Blahnik's preparations for a major exhibition at London's Victoria and Albert Museum dedicated to the French queen, Marie Antoinette. The exhibition will feature a limited-edition capsule collection of 12 pieces inspired by the queen's exquisite style. The exhibition opens later this week.
