Manolo Blahnik brand store with a total area of 262 sq. meter will open in April on the main street of Geneva, Rue de la Corraterie. It will become the 14th in the brand's chain of boutiques and the first boutique to open in Switzerland, writes Footwearnews.
For the designer Manolo Blahnik, Geneva is the city where he spent his student youth. At the University of Geneva, Blanic studied international law and politics. Having recently visited Geneva, the designer admitted that this city fuels his passion for literature and cinema. He recalled how, as a student, he visited a local movie theater where he watched “French classics” and his favorite film, Lukino Visconsi, “Leopard”.
Nick Leith Smith, who has been the brand’s architectural designer for many years, has created a store with interesting geometry. The main elements of interior design are contrasting lines and polka dots. Furniture and displays are rounded. The Geneva store will feature classic and seasonal models by Manolo Blahnik, as well as men's shoes.
In 2018, the brand also intends to open a store in Villaggio Mall in Qatar (will start operating in January), and one boutique in Singapore.
As previously reported, the brand is also expanding its retail space at the London Burlington Arcade shopping gallery. The brand’s first store appeared at Burlington Arcade in 2016. In the spring, a new boutique will open next door to the former, the store’s sales area will be 125 sq. meters.
