The designer and owner of the luxury shoe brand of the same name, Manolo Blanic, completely takes control of the production process, acquiring one of the best Italian women's shoe factories Calzaturificio Re Marcello Srl, writes Footwearnews.com
The factory was founded in 1938 by the Re family; Calzaturificio Re Marcello has the only manufacturing facility in the Vigevano region, near Milan. Since 1990 of the year, she has been producing women's shoes of the brand Manolo Blahnik.
The factory employs 77 craftsmen, who will now become part of Blahnik. Under the terms of the acquisition, the current factory management team led by Bruno Re and Giuse Galazzi will remain at the helm for the foreseeable future. Re Marcello will be the first fully owned British atelier shoe brand.
“I have known the Re family for almost three decades and am a longtime fan of their business,” said the designer.
Founded in 1938, a factory called Invitta began with the production of children's shoes. After the war, production was expanded, women's shoes began to be produced at the factory, and it was renamed Re Marcello in the sixties. At the end of the 80's, the factory changed its strategy by switching from wholesale to shoe manufacturing for major international and luxury brands. All shoes under the Manolo Blahnik brand are made on the basis of sketches made by the designer and the owner of the brand, it is made strictly under his control.
Another brand news was the recent opening of the new Manolo Blahnik boutique in Paris at the Palais Royal.
