Brazilian shoe brand Melissa presented the Fitas collection, created in collaboration with the design duo Campana brothers.
Melissa has collaborated with the Campana brothers for the fifth time. For the Fitas collection, Brazilian designers have chosen the stripe motif (translated from Portuguese, fitas means “stripes”)
“Turning any material into shoes is not an easy task, as they have to fit perfectly on the foot. The latest materials, varied in texture, inspired us to create a new collection for Melissa, ”commented Umberto Campana.
“At Melissa, we were given carte blanche to create this collection, so we set to work with complete freedom of action. As a sample, we took one of the models in our studio, and worked on the project, collecting the opinions of all studio employees, especially women. Usually, if we do not get their approval, the model does not go into production. The Fitas sandals were inspired by the training framework, which is commonly used in the workshop to create shoe models. I am impressed with the results of working with new materials for me, ”adds Fernando Campana.
All Melissa shoes are made of plastic. The idea of such a production arose in the 1979 year in Brazil, in Sao Paulo. Grendene, which began with the production of plastic wine boxes and shoe soles, opened a subsidiary. Products are still successful. The slogan of the Melissa brand is Plastic Dreams.
