The largest international exhibition of shoes and accessories MICAM Milano will be held in Milan from 18 to 20 September under the slogan #finallytogether (translated from English: finally together). The exhibition, which traditionally takes place at the Fieramilano (Rho) exhibition center, will feature 1 brands, 012% from Italy and 54% from abroad (+46% compared to March 23).
The Italian footwear industry continues to recover, recording growth in sales (+14,5%) and domestic consumption (+18,2% in value terms) in the first half of the year after an overall growth rate of +18,7% in 2021. The online portal Worldfootwear.com quotes Assocalzaturifici Chairman Giovanna Ceolini: “The industry as a whole has recovered significantly, but high costs for energy, raw materials and the consequences of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine (the value of exports to the two markets decreased by -30%, an overall fall of 46 % since the beginning of the war) jeopardize short-term growth. Our member companies are satisfied with sales in North America and major EU markets, although the spring lockdown has slowed down sales in China. While designer brands are doing well, Assocalzaturifici companies have yet to return to pre-Covid sales levels. We hope that MICAM, as usual, will give business a chance and help companies discover new trends and opportunities in global markets.”
