The Italian International Footwear Show MICAM will hold three teaser events in Berlin, Seoul and Brussels in December to anticipate the upcoming event scheduled for February 2023.
Organized in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, the tour kicked off on December 1st with a young designer shoe show at the Soho House Polit Bureau in Berlin, arriving in Seoul today at High Street Italia and ending on December 14th in Brussels at the Bruxelles Tour & Taxis Orangerie.
The purpose of the campaign is to present some of the novelties of the upcoming February 2023 MICAM exhibition in Milan. The exhibition will be held from 19 to 22 February.
The locations of the promotional tour were not chosen by chance, the export of Italian shoes to the markets of Germany, Korea and the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) in the first half of 2022 increased significantly: by 22,4% in Germany, by 20,8% in Korea and 29,9% in the Benelux countries.
“Italy has once again confirmed its position as the largest shoe manufacturer in the EU to date, with 148,8 million pairs of shoes, making the country the thirteenth largest producer in the world. In terms of exports, Italy ranks eighth in the world, but third in value,” said Giovanna Ceolini, head of MICAM and Assocalzaturifici.
In general, in the first half of 2022, Italian exports increased by 24% in value terms and by 13,5% in volume terms compared to the same period in 2021.
