The Ministry of Industry and Trade is helping to solve the logistics problems that have arisen due to the refusal of a number of international carriers to deliver goods from Russia. The department has created a situational center, a “hot line” is operating, to which Russian companies can report emerging difficulties with logistics and receive information about alternative delivery methods, TASS reports.
“Currently, certain difficulties are being recorded, due to the refusal to cooperate on the part of a number of large international carriers, primarily from unfriendly states. The EU ban on the entry of trucks with Russian numbers and the withdrawal of insurance coverage by European insurance companies for trucks of European carriers located on the territory of the Russian Federation create temporary difficulties for the transportation of goods,” the ministry commented.
In early March, such major container lines as Maersk, MSC, CGM and Hapag-Lloyd reported on the suspension of Russian transportation. DHL stopped delivering to Russia and Belarus. Feeder operator Unifeeder suspended the operation of two of its Baltic services that called at the port of St. Petersburg, X-Press Feeders suspended the operation of the BRX service, which connected St. Petersburg with the largest container hubs in Northern Europe, Antwerp and Rotterdam. The Icelandic carrier Samskip has removed the Rotterdam-Hamburg-St. Petersburg service from its portfolio.
