The Ministry of Trade of Belarus decided to close the 21 store of the largest shoe retailer Megatop due to an insufficient assortment of Belarusian-made products.
"The Ministry of Trade has suspended the work of 20 Megatop shoe stores located in Minsk, Brest, Kobrin, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno and Bobruisk for violations of trade legislation since December 21," the message says.
The reason for the closure was the “extremely narrow” representation of Belarusian companies - only 1-2 Belarusian brands of footwear were sold in stores.
Company management has been given 10 days to rectify the situation.
Earlier, the Ministry of Commerce suspended the work of a number of stores selling household appliances due to the insufficient availability of Belarusian refrigerators, televisions, and washing machines.
Note that the shoe industry in Belarus has more than 60 manufacturers, which produced 2014 million pairs of shoes in January-October of 11. Over this period, over 13 million pairs of shoes worth 230 million dollars were imported into the country, including 110 million dollars from Russia.
