Fashion retail is going downhill

Around 20 Russian clothing and footwear brands will close their retail operations in 2025, Vedomosti reports, citing data from the consulting company CORE.XP.

Some brands have decided to abandon retail, opting for online sales. These include Face Code, I Am Studio, Inspire Girls, Just Clothes, Luzeen, Mollis, and Prav.da. But others have completely ceased operations, including Incity, Mai Collection, Mudo, Noun, Ready! Steady! Go!, Yollo, and shoe retailers Megatop and Urban Vibes.

Additionally, it was announced that Moscow-based multi-brand shoe retailer ITAITA will soon close its stores. Three stores in the chain are currently open, but the retail project will cease operations in 2026. This decision was made by the owners of the chain, which operated for approximately 20 years, offering footwear and accessories from Italy.

Retail projects are experiencing serious difficulties amid declining consumer demand, competition from marketplaces, rising rental costs for retail space, and high lending rates.
