Moscow Fashion Week presents its curators

From June 20 to June 26, the Moscow Fashion Week will be held in the capital. The event will combine several formats at once: designer shows, a market, a business program and a professional B2B showroom. Leading industry professionals will be responsible for the program of events of the Moscow Fashion Week.

Market, co-founder of Face&Laces Alexey Aksenov

For all visitors of the Moscow Fashion Week, an open market will be organized in Zaryadye, where you can buy items from the collections of more than 50 Russian and Moscow designers. The store of independent local streetwear brands LCLS was involved in organizing the work of the market, and the participants will be supervised by Alexey Aksenov, co-founder and curator of the LCLS online platform and co-founder of Faces&Laces:

Alexey Aksenov Alexey Aksenov

“From designers, I expect, first of all, a common desire to develop the local industry, self-confidence, maximum initiative and a creative approach to presenting their brand. Our common task is to show the fashion community and a wide audience that there are enthusiasts in Russia who make high-quality and conceptual clothes with their own history and philosophy. Now it is especially important to tell people about a high-quality local alternative.”

Professional B2B showroom, President of the Union of Russian Buyers Elena Burganova

A networking platform will be organized for designers and buyers to facilitate the process of cooperation and procurement between brands and leading buyers. The direction was curated by Elena Bugranova, President of the Union of Russian Buyers, founder of the Via Del Buyer wholesale showroom:

Elena Bugranova Elena Bugranova

“Retailers' interest in Russian brands is more relevant than ever. Changes in the market create new needs, which can be covered by the cooperation of buyers with local brands. The purpose of the showroom is to present high-quality and modern collections, with recognizable DNA. The showroom as part of Moscow Fashion Week is an opportunity for buyers to view and order selected collections of Russian brands in one place. I hope that the event will create new partnerships between retailers and manufacturers and will contribute to the development of Russian fashion.”

Business program, curator of the Fashion Design course at the British Higher School of Design Anna Chernykh and Anzor Kankulov, Head of Fashion at the HSE School of Design

Industry experts, students of specialized educational institutions, designers and everyone interested in fashion will be offered a business program. “We live in a new reality, changes have affected all aspects of the fashion industry, which means that business must rapidly transform. Therefore, the purpose of the Fashion Week business program is to integrate all market players into a single, stable system. Production and resource base, creativity and commerce were traditionally not connected with each other. When we succeed in uniting everyone and identifying the first integration steps, a new industry will be born, less dependent, more complete and self-sufficient,” Anna Chernykh, curator of the Fashion Design course at the British Higher School of Design, partner in the FRESHBLOOD project to support and develop young designers , Head of the Center for Innovative Youth Creativity "Design Workshops".

Anzor Kankulov Anzor Kankulov

“I think it is very important now to understand the state of the fashion industry in Russia, the possible ways of its development. The business program covers three important blocks - these are the tasks facing Russian fashion in the long and short term; this is a discussion of the program of actions aimed at supporting and developing the industry; and these are lectures and master classes designed for young designers – let’s say, orientation to the area, advice and sharing of experience,” Anzor Kankulov, Head of the Fashion Department at the HSE School of Design.

From June 20 to June 26, the Moscow Fashion Week will be held in the capital. The event will combine several formats at once: designer shows, a market, a business program and a professional B2B showroom. For the program...
