Moscow “consumes” 24% of the entire Russian shoe market

According to the finished marketing research "Russian footwear market in 2010" conducted by MarketMasters in January of this year, 65 cities with a population of more than 11 million people, including Moscow, occupy about 1% of the turnover in the structure of the Russian footwear market. The capital accounts for 24% of the total Russian footwear market, St. Petersburg - 10,5%.

Over the four years 2005 and 2008, the increase in footwear retail sales in Moscow was 7% - 16% per year, and in 2009 the volume of the Moscow retail shoe market decreased by 12% compared to 2008. Following the results of the 2010 year, the retail footwear turnover in Moscow increased by 4% compared to the 2009 year.

In the market structure of the Moscow shoe market, the share of women's shoes is about 60%, the share of men's shoes is 40%. Compared to 2006, the share of men's shoes in the Moscow shoe market grew by 5%. The maximum share in the Moscow footwear market is the footwear segment for consumers with income from 25 000 to 40 000 rubles per family member per month. This segment occupies about 37% of the Moscow footwear market, reports retailer.ru.
