The development of self-propelled boots took more than 5 years. During this time, 30 with more than one different prototype was created. Now, unusual shoes are ready for mass production, so that in the spring of 2012, they will appear on the shelves.
The American Peter Peter Treadway called his brainchild spnKiX. In fact, these are roller skates worn over ordinary shoes with built-in electric motors and batteries, as well as with a wireless control panel.
The idea is certainly not new, but scooters in boots have perhaps never been so close to mass production before. To get a complete picture of Peter's path, just watch videos showing early prototypes. By the way, even in those samples it was possible not only to walk, but also to drive a car.
According to OhGizmo, the maximum speed of the new "spiniks" is 10 km / h. The battery charge is enough to drive 3-4 kilometers (depending on the incline). Lithium batteries are charged in 2-3 hours, but they are removable and can be replaced with "fresh" ones. The rider's weight must not exceed 80 kilos.
Peter started a page on Kickstarter, where he intends to raise $ 25 thousand for the release of the first hundred pairs by March 2012.
A little more than a month is left until the end of the fundraising, while Treadway’s wallet has less than $ 4000, but it’s obvious that spnKiX skates will go on the market in any case - they spent too much time, effort and money. As for the price, it will vary between $ 375-950.
