The virtual fitting room feature has appeared in the Lamoda online store app for iOS. At the moment, in this way, you can try on about a hundred models of men's and women's sneakers, presented in the online store, writes Kommersant.
To try on, the user needs to point the camera to his feet and select the desired model. “We hope that the virtual fitting will help increase the conversion in the sneaker category to 8 – 9% and reduce failures after trying on before buying them for 10 – 15% - now they can be up to 60%,” said the managing director of digital marketing and product Lamoda Group Julia Nikitina.
Lamoda's partner in the project is the Belarusian startup Wannaby, which attracted $ 2 million in investments last May. The app is currently only available for iOS, but will appear on Google Play at the end of September. Wannaby already has a partnership with Gucci and is in talks with potential partners around the world. “We see that AR shoe fitting helps brands not only increase user engagement in their online and mobile platforms, but also convert shoe buyers from physical stores to online,” says Sergei Arkhangelsky, CEO of Wannaby. The market for online sales of sneakers alone is expected to reach $ 2019 billion in 15, according to Euromonitor, he said.
A similar application with 3D modeling technology is currently testing the Wildberries online store. The company plans to launch such functionality in mobile applications on iOS and Android in September.
