Unprecedented discounts stabilized demand

Sales of shoes, apparel, and electronics doubled due to declining purchasing power. To stabilize the situation, retailers resort to unprecedented discounts.

“Retailers saw that there were no sales - they began to move, arrange discounts, and special offers. As a result, in April-May, the average bill for shoes, clothes and household appliances was higher than the average bill for the same goods in April-May last year, not by 60%, but only by 10-15%. As a result, for some positions, the drop in demand has completely stopped, for others it continues, but not on such a scale, ”said Igor Berezin, president of the Marketing Guild.

According to the co-chairman of Roskontrol Alexander Borisov, about 80% of discounts are pure deception. So, Roskontrol revealed cases when goods were sold at discount prices in stores than before the sale began.
