Nike continues to work to extend the lifespan of its footwear and announces the launch of Nike Refurbished. As part of the program, the branded retail brand will be able to return old Nike shoes for repair or recycling.
The campaign kicks off in the United States with collection points for old shoes at 15 Nike retail stores throughout the United States.
Old Nike sneakers, which are in good condition, the company plans to repair and sell at its Nike Factory, Nike Unite and Nike Community stores at discounted prices.
The company plans to significantly increase the output of footwear made from recycled materials, currently the share of such footwear in the brand's assortment is about 78%.
