Nike releases new NikeSkims sneakers
In support of the trend for hybrid athletic styles, Nike is releasing new NikeSkims sneakers. The silhouette is based on the Nike Rift, a split-toe running shoe the brand produced in the '90s.
The updated design retains the signature split "tabi" toe and strap closure. The streamlined outsole echoes the original Rift's DNA, creating a barefoot feel, while a textured outsole adorned with the Nike logo completes the look.
The NikeSkims are scheduled to release in North America on January 26th. The NikeSkims Rift Mesh will be available in three colorways: black, velvet brown, and archaic brown. Each pair will retail for $150.
Interestingly, American supermodel Kim Kardashian is a co-founder of the Skims project. "There's something incredibly powerful and beautiful about ballet flats, so reimagining the Nike Rift to create the first-ever NikeSkims seemed like a natural fit," Kim Kardashian commented.
