adidas and the environmental organization Parley for the Oceans celebrate five years of cooperation, the main mission of which is to solve the global environmental crisis by creating eco-innovation and phasing out plastic in production.
On the occasion of the anniversary, partners present a limited silhouette adidas Parley UltraBOOST DNA, inspired by the 2015 prototype. 5 years ago, adidas and Parley presented the first conceptual pair of shoes, the top of which was made of special fiber from recycled and recycled plastic waste and fishing nets found in the ocean. This material was first used in the industry.
During the partnership with Parley, adidas eliminated a substantial portion of primary polyester from its products. During this time, the Primeblue collection was developed from high-performance recycled material 50% consisting of oceanic plastic Parley, more than 30 million pairs of sneakers were produced.
By the end of 2020, adidas promises to make more than 50% of its products from recycled polyester. By 2024, the company intends to completely abandon the use of primary polyester in its products and switch to 100% use of recycled materials.
