There are fewer new shopping centers in St. Petersburg

In the 3rd quarter of 2014, two new shopping malls opened in St. Petersburg - the Montpensier shopping and entertainment center and the Admiral shopping center. The total volume of retail space commissioned since the beginning of the year is 41,7 thousand square meters. m, which is the lowest figure for the same period over the past six years, according to data from JLL.

The opening of the Europolis shopping center and the Torgovy dvor shopping center are scheduled for the 4 quarter. In the case of the launch of both facilities, the input volume at the end of the 2014 year will be about 119 thousand square meters. m, which is 40-60% less than the last three years.

The forecast for the commissioning of high-quality retail space in 2015 is a little less than 50 thousand square meters. m. Such a low indicator is a consequence of the postponement of the commissioning of a number of facilities planned initially for next year. At the same time, the prospects for the implementation of these projects, even in the medium term, have not yet been determined, because in the active stage of construction of the objects scheduled for 2016, there is only the Okhta Mall shopping center.

Despite the opening of new complexes, in the 3 quarter there was no significant change in the ranking of city districts in any of the indicators. The Moscow region is still the leader in the number of retail space on 1 thousand residents, the position of which will be further strengthened in the 2015 year, when two shopping centers with a total rented area of 48,8 thousand square meters will be introduced. m. Primorsky district is ahead of other districts of St. Petersburg in the total volume of quality space in shopping centers (its share is slightly more than 20%).
