The international payment system PayPal, Google and the consulting company OC&C Strategy Consultants predict that by 2018 the growth of online sales in the USA, Germany, China and the UK will almost double (to $ 1 trillion). This will come through the sale of electronics and retailers' efforts to incorporate internet platforms into their business models.
A related study was carried out by the Dutch-based OC&C Strategy Consultants, together with Google and PayPal. According to them, now the total online sales in China, the USA, Germany and the UK reaches £ 320 billion ($ 490 billion). This figure is projected to rise to £ 645 billion ($ 985 billion) over the next few years.
According to Martin Bertisen, Google UK Sales Director, there has been a rapid increase in the number of customers who have access to the Internet. He also said that for Internet surfing, a large number of consumers prefer smartphones than PCs, and said that this leads to an increase in mobile transactions.
According to the study, the online trading market provides retailers with great potential for development and growth abroad. So, for example, the UK has become a popular online shopping point for customers from Germany and has taken second place among consumers in the United States and China. Compared with British buyers, the costs of Chinese and Germans for British goods via the Internet are 2,7 and 1,7 times, respectively.
