The volume of the Russian leather industry grew by 17%

For 7 months of 2016, the growth of the Russian leather sub-industry showed an increase of 17%, - said Denis Pak, Director of the Department of State Regulation of Internal Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, speaking at the Italian leather exhibition Lineapelle 2016, which took place on September 20-22 in Milan. "This result was achieved largely due to the establishment of a temporary ban on the export of semi-finished leather goods" wet blue ", - assured Pak. “In particular, thanks to the support of the state, today this sub-sector of light industry is going through a new stage of development.”

A few years ago, manufacturers of natural leather in Russia were exporting mostly untreated leather or semi-finished product “wet blue”. Because of what there was a shortage of this raw material in the country. It is for this reason that the government has banned its export (recently the ban was extended for another 6 months). This prompted the development of a leather industry specializing in the maximum processing of leather.

“In the framework of the exhibition, we conclude large-scale contracts with leading world equipment manufacturers. The maximum processing of raw materials in the country is the main development trend in the near future, ”said Denis Pak.
