The volume of construction of new shopping centers in St. Petersburg continues to decline. During the year, only three new shopping centers were opened in St. Petersburg: the Montpensier shopping center, the Admiral shopping center and the Europolis shopping center.

For comparison, the 2013 year was a record year for St. Petersburg in terms of commissioning retail space over the past seven years. According to the results of 2013, the total volume of existing shopping centers increased by 346 thousand square meters. m and reached 3,4 million square meters. m

Nevertheless, Petersburg is still one of the most saturated trading areas of Russian cities, giving way only to Samara. Moscow takes the fourth position in the list of cities with the highest level of supply of retail space.
