The Obuv Rossii group of companies launches a new business line - the development of innovative materials for shoe production. To achieve this goal, a company has been established within the Group - the Research Center “Modified Polymers”, which is based in the Technological Park of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The main focus of the Center is the development and testing of innovative materials for the production of shoes (polymers, membrane materials). Obuv Rossii plans to invest 30 million rubles a year in research work.
“The shoe market is becoming more competitive, buyers are making more and more demands on the quality of shoes, which should be comfortable, practical, safe. Over the past few years, significant changes have occurred not only in the technology of shoe production, which is on the path to automating processes, but also in the materials from which the shoes are made. Therefore, the introduction of our own developments and new technologies becomes a significant competitive advantage for shoe companies. We have created a research center as part of the Group of Companies, which will allow us to quickly introduce new technologies into shoe production, ”comments Anton Titov, Director of the Obuv Rossii Group of Companies.
The team of the Modified Polymers Research Center is formed by scientists who have significant experience in the development of polymer materials. The technical director of the Center is Vadim Khlestkin, who began his career at one of the institutes of the SB RAS, then worked for a long time in an international company, and after that he was engaged in developments in the field of biodegradable materials.
“Designed, modified polymers are a promising area, as these materials are widely used in various industries and have practically unlimited possibilities for regulating their composition, structure and properties,” comments Vadim Khlestkin. - The advantages of polymers over many other materials are their low cost, comparative simplicity and high processing productivity, they are lightweight and resistant to aggressive environments and impact loads. All these properties are very important in the manufacture of shoes and accessories for it. "
Obuv Rossii plans to use the development results both in its own production and when placing outsourcing orders at partner factories. Now the Group produces 40% of shoes in Russia, including 15% - at its own factory in Novosibirsk, the remaining 60% - abroad. The company also does not exclude the possibility of conducting research on the development of new materials for orders of third-party enterprises from related industries.
The creation of their own research centers is a worldwide trend; most of the leading shoe brands invest heavily in the development and implementation of new materials that improve the consumer properties of shoes. Sports companies such as Adidas, Nike, Reebok are traditionally considered the leading companies in these areas. Also in recent years, new materials have been actively introduced into the production of everyday shoes (breathable soles, synthetic insulation, etc.).
