Russian Shoes will work for the army

The Obuv Rossii group of companies plans to annually produce up to 1 million pairs of shoes for the army and builders, Kommersant reports. This year, the manufacturer intends to issue 20-100 thousand pairs of military shoes. The first batch of 50 thousand pairs is already in production.

Next year Obuv Rossii wants to increase the production of special footwear to 200 thousand pairs, and in five years - to 0,7-1 million pairs. In general, the retailer estimates the special footwear market at 50 million pairs, or 150 billion rubles.

The company decided to enter a new market for itself after the introduction of a ban on the purchase of imported light industry goods for state and municipal needs. In addition, the ruble devaluation plays into the hands of Russian manufacturers - the production of shoes inside the country today is 15-20% cheaper than placing similar orders abroad.

The production of military shoes is carried out at the S-Tep factory, which the company acquired in November last year. It has the necessary technologies and equipment for molding polyurethane and rubber. Also this week, Obuv Rossii launches a special shoe production line at its Berdsk factory in the Novosibirsk Region.

Investments in the development of production in 2014-2016 amounted to 1 billion rubles, of which a tenth went to the manufacture of molds and technical equipment for the production of special footwear. The company expects to work with both government agencies and private companies operating in the field of real estate, roads, oil and gas pipelines, etc., as well as cooperate with specialized retail chains that sell shoes, for example, for the army. The leading players in the specialized footwear market in Russia are the companies Faraday, BTK Group, and Paritet.
