In 2012, the Oodji chain of stores will start opening its own shoe stores with an area of 40 sq. m. The first of them should start working next August. The network operating company August is now recruiting premises, as well as designers and factories to place orders. Shoes will also be sold in the existing Oodji stores, which now specialize in women's and men's clothing (the network has about 400 own and franchised outlets).
According to the head of one of the Russian clothing chains, launching his own shoe line will cost Oodji at least $ 3 million. August will not be informed whether shoe stores will open under a separate brand.
According to estimates by the National Shoe Union, in 2010, the shoe market in Russia amounted to 10-12 billion dollars. Daria Yadernaya, director of analytics for markets in Russia and the CIS, Esper Group, believes that shoe sales will grow by 18% over the next four years. The clothing market, according to experts, is growing more slowly - only at 4-8% per year.
Nevertheless, shoe lines in clothing stores usually just complement the main assortment, not being a source of profit, emphasizes Nuclear. Even in the largest European networks, the target audience, ready to purchase clothes at affordable prices, does not always buy shoes from the same cheap materials. About this writes Kommersant.
There is no information on the launch of a new project on the company's official website yet.
