Ozon ramps up apparel and footwear sales

The Russian marketplace Ozon continues to expand the offer of clothing and footwear on its site. Since the beginning of the year, the marketplace has invested more than 1 billion rubles in the development of the category and aims to triple its turnover by the end of the year, and in the medium term to become a leader among online retailers in the fashion category. 

According to Ozon’s own data, in the second quarter of 2022, the turnover from sales of the Apparel category (including clothing, shoes and accessories) on the marketplace increased 2,3 times compared to the same period a year earlier. The number of active shoppers choosing clothes, shoes and accessories on Ozon has more than doubled. The company delivered more than 12 million orders with goods in this category, which is 2,4 times more than a year earlier. 

In addition to residents of the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, the most actively buying clothes and shoes on the marketplace are residents of the Krasnodar Territory, Sverdlovsk Region, Tatarstan and the Rostov Region. 

According to the results of the 2nd quarter, more than 71 thousand entrepreneurs and brands are already selling clothes, shoes and accessories on Ozon. The range has grown more than 5 times year-on-year - the number of product names in the category has exceeded 34 million. The share of the category in the entire assortment of the site increased by 2,5 p.p. year on year and by the end of the 2nd quarter of 2022 reached 26%.

More than 50% of category sellers sell adult clothing. 46% - accessories for adults and children, 28% - jewelry, another 26% - sportswear and shoes. 

In the reporting period, the number of sellers of Russian-made fashion goods increased significantly on the site. Compared to the same period last year - more than 2,5 times year on year, and the turnover from sales of domestically produced clothing and footwear increased 2,8 times.
