Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the delivery of goods from Turkey to Russia may increase by several days, Vadim Filatov, deputy director of the PEK logistics operator, says. In the case of maritime transportation, the situation with logistics is affected by a storm in the port of Novorossiysk. Due to the recent earthquake in Turkey, part of the flights from Istanbul are delayed, and the delivery times have also increased.
Vadim Filatov, Deputy Director of PEK:
“The epicenter of the earthquake was in southeastern Turkey. Logistics facilities in the northwestern part of the country operate without restrictions. We deliver cargo by sea between the ports of Istanbul and Novorossiysk. As of February 8, there is a storm in the port of Novorossiysk, ships are idle in the roadstead. Because of this, the delivery time of goods may increase by several days, depending on weather conditions.
Some flights from Turkey are delayed indefinitely.
Increased delivery times. The passage through the Upper Lars land border crossing closest to Turkey, located on the border of Russia and Georgia, has been closed. But this is due to bad weather conditions and the threat of avalanches that occur regularly in this area in winter.
We redirected cargo flows to the border crossings between Azerbaijan and Dagestan (checkpoint "Yarag - Kazmalyar" and checkpoint "Tagirkent - Kazmalyar"). This, of course, increases the logistic shoulder by an average of 1000 km, and the delivery time from Turkey by 1-2 days is not critical.
PEK accepts applications, delivers cargo on schedule and closely monitors the situation in real time.
Today, PEK branches and warehouses located in Istanbul are operating as usual.”
