Network companies ask for government funding of foreign expansion
The Russian Franchising Association (RAF) is preparing a program for exporting Russian brands. As part of the program, large network companies plan to ask the authorities for financial assistance for international development.
The RAF plans to prepare an export program for Russian brands by the end of 2012. Then it will be presented to the Russian authorities. According to entrepreneurs, this will help create an infrastructure of licenses abroad. Within its framework, proposals will be prepared that would help Russian franchisors gain a foothold in the international market. Entrepreneurs are asked to reimburse from the federal budget the costs of participating in international exhibitions and registering intellectual property objects abroad, as well as co-financing the costs of adapting franchises to the conditions of foreign markets.
Some members of the association have already started their promotion abroad. For example, the Expedition chain of stores recently opened an office in Hong Kong and will soon open an office in London. The Shokoladnitsa coffeehouse chain plans to conquer Southeast Asia. Rosinter speaks in part about entering foreign markets, arendator.ru writes with reference to Marker.
