Half of Russians went online

About half of Russia's residents are Internet users. Inessa Ishunkina, TNS Gallup representative, presented such data at the Change Consciousness conference, media manager Anton Nosik writes in her blog. According to TNS Gallup, in April 2012, 70,8 million Russians over 12 years old used the Internet (at the beginning of the year, Rosstat counted over 143 million inhabitants in the country). Among adults, the audience of the network covers 64 million people, two thirds of them live in cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people. The growth rate of the Internet audience in Russia is at around 27% per year (in small towns and villages - 49%, in large cities - 15%). At the same time, 53% of Russians have three or more Internet access points. In this regard, the number of unique users in statistics has increased compared to the number of "live" visitors: at present, the ratio is marked at 5,7: 1. During the day, 38,39 million Russians visit social networks, with only 4,1 million are registered in only one of them (Vkontakte holds the lead in this indicator). The daily audience of search engines is 27,94 million people, news resources - 8,67 million, blogs - 5,7 million, online stores - 5,04 million. People over 45 years old make up the majority of those who do not use the Internet. Earlier, the Public Opinion Foundation estimated the number of Russian Internet users as of the winter of 2011-2012. According to FOM, 57,8 million Russians go online at least once a month, and the daily Internet audience in Russia is 44,3 million. Writes about this retail.ru
