Portuguese startup Zèta and Nespresso launch sneakers made from coffee grounds

A collaboration between Portuguese fashion company Zèta and coffee maker Nespresso has resulted in a pair of sneakers that contain recycled coffee grounds on the upper and sole.

Each pair of RE:GROUND contains 12 cups of coffee grounds from the Nespresso Capsule Recycling Chart. Complement the coffee grounds recycled environmentally friendly materials. The shoes are made in Portugal and Zèta only ships them to customers in Europe to keep production cycles short.

“My vision for Zèta was to create stylish sneakers for eco-fashion lovers. For this capsule collection, our fabric makers at Tintex spent eight months perfecting an innovative vegan faux leather made from recycled coffee grounds. RE:GROUND is a chic and stylish shoe that celebrates the value of coffee and the dignity of the circular cycle,” says Laure Babin, Zeta CEO.
