In the first six months of 2014, the footwear market in Russia in physical terms amounted to 182,1 million pairs, which is 11,7% less than in the same period a year earlier, according to a study prepared by Discovery Research Group. In value terms, the market decreased by 13,3% and amounted to 12 billion dollars.
According to analysts, Centro / TsentrObuv remains the leader of the Russian market in terms of the number of stores in the first half of the current reporting period: the number of chain stores in the country has increased to almost 1500. Then follows the Chelyabinsk shoe manufacturer Unichel, which has 468 chain stores, leaders Kari - 463 stores in Russia. Obuv Rossii follows with a small gap with 450 stores.
As for the volume of foreign-made footwear, in the first half of 2014 the volume of imports in physical terms amounted to 122,7 million pairs (-16,6%), and in value terms - 8,3 billion dollars. At the same time, 40,3% of imports ($ 3,35 billion) accounted for the ten leading brands, including Centro, Ecco, Taccardi, Adidas during the reporting period.
Discovery Research Group analysts attribute the appearance of a large Chinese brand Anta in Russia, the launch of new shoe brands by Dino Ricci and Obuv Rossii Group of Companies, as well as a proposal to ban sneakers and high heels in the Customs Union as the main events that took place on the Russian market over the period under review. ...
