According to analysts, the attendance of shopping centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg is recovering, along with this, the sales turnover of retailers shows a positive trend, and the pre-pandemic level of rental rates is also returning, writes Kommersant.
According to analysts from Watcom Group, in the period from September 6 to 12, the Shopping Index (the number of visitors to shopping centers per 1 sq. Meters of retail space) in shopping centers in the capital was 2019% lower than in the same period of 6,5, in St. Petersburg, the decline is estimated at 5,1%. At the same time, relative to the same period in 2020, analysts note the growth of the Shopping Index: in Moscow + 3,5%, in St. Petersburg + 5,2%. A positive trend in traffic has been observed in shopping centers in both capitals for a number of weeks and, in general, experts say that the pre-pandemic level of traffic in shopping centers in both cities has recovered by 90%.
In the regions, the situation is developing better - the indicators have already reached the pre-pandemic level. At the same time, according to Diana Zaznobina, the leading expert of the Shopping Centers direction, Shop Store, the retail turnover is now on average 10% higher than in the same period in 2019, so the rental rates in shopping centers, which were reduced during the pandemic , went up again. Shopping center managers have already begun to win back the decline in rental rates during the lockdown.
