Prada will revive the French tannery

The Prada group has its own first production workshop. The famous luxury brand has announced the purchase of the historic French leather factory Tannerie Mégisserie Hervy, located in the vicinity of Limoges.

The transaction was carried out through the organization of a joint venture with the factory Superior Spa di Santa Croce, which has long been a production partner of the Prada group. The new company, controlled by Prada, was named Tannerie Limoges SAS.

The purchase of a historic factory, existing since 1936, aims to restart it, restoring the features of local leather production. At the time of closure last year, the factory had about 40 employees.

Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of the Prada Group, said: “We are delighted with this acquisition; we are talking about high quality production with a long history. We are also grateful to the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry for allowing us to complete this deal. "
