Of all the Prada pieces the Italian luxury brand showcased for the fall-winter 2023 season at Milan Men's Fashion Week, the brand's chunky shoes generated the most fans, which is understandable.
Some models of the new Prada collection continue the theme of chunky loafers presented by the brand in the 2021 collection, others are the result of a mix of these loafers and sneakers. According to Highsnobiety experts, the new men's shoes are also influenced by Raf Simons, who has been co-creative director of the brand since 2020. In particular, in sneakers, these are contrasting textures and color schemes that echo the adidas Ozweegos famous collaboration of the Belgian designer.
However, Prada's F/W 2023 sneakers are based on the Prada America's Cup, which was first released for the Prada Luna Rossa sailing team during the 1997 America's Cup race and relaunched as a retro shoe in 2021.
The Prada America's Cup sole is complemented by a technical mesh and leather upper, while the shape of the upper is borrowed from Prada's chunky loafers. The latest in the new collection are released in muted colors, but unusual color combinations take place in the design.
