Vito Artioli, President of the European Confederation of Shoe Industry (CEC), wanting to somewhat rejuvenate the organization, appointed Carmen Aria Castellano its Secretary General. Castellano was born in 1965, studied at the University of Valencia, and began her career as a consultant at the largest auditing company Ernst & Young. Her appointment is primarily due to the fact that Roeland Smets, managing director of the confederation, died in February.
Now CEC is striving to become more modern, in line with current market realities. Having opened a branch in the European quarter of Brussels, the CEC management is going to soon launch a site dedicated to the organization. Meanwhile, Vito Artioli continues to advocate for the labeling of footwear imported into the European Union, arguing that it is necessary to protect the European industry from Chinese shoe manufacturers.
