The authorities of the Novosibirsk region offered the Faraday company to place part of the orders for the production of military footwear at the S-Tep shoe factory (Berdsk, an asset of the OR Group) that had suspended its activities. This was announced by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship Development of the region Andrei Goncharov, writes Interfax.
“We turned to the Faraday factory, this is the production of special footwear - hunting, trekking, military, as well. They gave us the following answer: we are ready (. . .) to attract employees to our production, but it is not very profitable for us (the region), because we wanted to restart production here, so that they place their orders here, and we, having technological and human potential, everyone would do it,” Goncharov said.
According to the minister, negotiations are underway with the Faraday factory. “We are waiting, first of all, for orders from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and so on. It would probably suit us, as in the case of Faraday, for some organization to be the “head” in the execution of some order, and our factory would be there on a subcontract,” he specified.
It is noted that, if necessary, the management of the S-Tep shoe factory declares its readiness to quickly start production.
The Faraday company has been operating in the Russian shoe market for 18 years and specializes in the production of footwear for the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation. The large industrial site "Faraday" is located in Rasskazovo, Tambov region.
At present, the activity of the S-Tep factory, which produced, among other things, berets and trekking shoes, has been suspended, a significant part of the personnel has been employed by other enterprises.
In mid-October, Private Security Company Brest Plus LLC initiated the bankruptcy of Fabrika S-Tep LLC due to a debt of 837 thousand rubles. VTB, Sberbank and Promsvyazbank petitioned to join the bankruptcy case of the factory, with the indicated amounts of debt in the amount of 4,7 billion rubles, 1,3 billion rubles and 1,7 billion rubles, respectively. The meeting is scheduled for November 24th.
The S-Tep factory has been on the market since 2000. The group acquired the factory in 2015 from its founder, Ilya Teper, at that time its capacity was 500 pairs of shoes per year.
