The Volga Federal District is named the second largest retail chain turnover after the Central. He takes a similar position in the number of chain grocery stores. Today, the region has already been marked by its presence by international, federal and global food retail chain operators. This is evidenced by the statistics of RBC.research, according to which the share of federal chain stores in the spring of 2013 amounted to about 41%. It is noted that specialized and company stores were not considered during the study.
The average number of chain food stores in 100 thousand of the population in the Volga Federal District in April-May of 2013 increased significantly, reaching 33,9. It is known that the lowest level is in the Penza region, where the average number of points was 20,6 stores.
Experts say that the Volga Federal District maintains the status of a region with fairly high incomes and the level of GRP. To a sufficient degree, this is also associated with the location of the production capacity of many large producers of food products, and hence with a low indicator of logistics costs. In addition, it was here that several automobile clusters were formed (Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, the Republic of Tatarstan).
According to research, the volume of foreign investment in these regions will continue to grow.
