Shoe production in Russia in 2017 year increased by 7,5%

The growth of footwear production in 2017 in the Russian Federation amounted to 7,5%. In total, in 2017, 103,6 million pairs of shoes were produced in the country, such statistics were cited in the report of the Russian Union of Tanners and Shoemakers (RSKO) at the annual congress of the union, which was held on May 16 in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.


The RSKO report noted that the stabilization of footwear production in Russia was achieved through the adoption of systematic measures of state regulation and support to the leather and footwear industries despite the unfavorable market situation - a decrease in livestock numbers, a sharp drop in the ruble, a decrease in purchasing power and an increase in shoe imports.

According to statistics, the volume of footwear imports to Russia in 2017 amounted to 270,4 million pairs. Shoe imports growth reached 30,7%.

At the same time, the report also speaks of an increase in the export of Russian shoes, which reached 2017% in 39,3, and overall the volume of export of shoes amounted to 17,7 million pairs.

Also, the report of the RSKO notes that in 2017, with the assistance of the Union, 5 resolutions of the Government of the Russian Federation on a temporary ban on the export of semi-finished products were adopted. In this connection, the export of semi-finished products in the reporting year decreased to 1 thousand tons. For comparison, the export of semi-finished products before the introduction of bans was about 24 thousand tons per year.

The growth of leather production in 2017 year - 9,5%, the volume of leather production amounted to 21,9 million square meters. meters. The volume of leather exports decreased by 8,1% to 11,4 million square meters. meters.

In 2017, the volume of investments in the development of the leather and footwear industry amounted to 11 billion rubles.

State subsidies were directed to investment projects to modernize the Moscow shoe enterprises Ortomoda and Paris Commune, the Chelyabinsk company Unichel, GC Russian Leather, Vyazma leather production VKP LT and others.
