The 7th World Shoe Congress is postponed

Due to the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6, the World Footwear Congress, which was supposed to be held in Istanbul this May, has been postponed, writes Worldfootwear.com.

Given the severity of the humanitarian crisis faced by the host country, the organizers of the World Shoe Congress (WFC), namely the Turkish Footwear Manufacturers Association (TASD) and the Turkish Shoe Industry Suppliers Association (AYSAD), on the one hand, and the European Footwear Confederation (CEC), on the other hand, they decided to postpone the event until the end of the year. Earlier, the World Shoe Congress in Istanbul was scheduled for May 9-11.

For now, the organizers of the World Shoe Congress are "focused on the immediate needs of those affected." While the CEC and its members send emergency shipments of warm shoes and clothing, two Turkish associations are looking for housing and work for the victims. It is worth noting that many shoe and clothing factories were located in areas most affected by the disaster.

The organization of the World Shoe Congress noted that the event is likely to take place in November, the exact dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
