Putin tightened e-commerce rules

Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing the Russian government to regulate the threshold for duty-free import of goods sent in international mail.

The document gives the government of the Russian Federation the right to regulate the rules for the import of goods for personal use, sent in international mail and delivered by the carrier to an individual, without paying customs duties and taxes.

Earlier, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov reported that, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Finance, it would be possible to import parcels weighing up to 10 kg and costing up to 150 euros through online stores duty-free.

Currently, monthly shipments with a total value of more than 1 euros or weighing more than 31 kg are subject to a 30% duty.
