The collaboration between Radical Chic and Zorigto Dorzhiev resulted in a collection of two silk scarves, “Nomad” and “Erdene”. The basis for the new designs were two original works by the artist, “Four Horsemen” and “March”.
In his work, Zorigto Dorzhiev often turns to the culture of nomads. For the author, they are not just wanderers, but contemplators of life.
The design of the "Nomad" scarf is based on the graphic work of Zorigto Dorzhiev "Four Horsemen". The color scheme proposed by the brand's designers adds dynamics to the composition.
The central composition of the “Erdeni – Erdeni” scarf is based on the images of running horses from the artist’s iconic work “March”.
The Radical Chic series of scarves delicately conveys folk motifs through the contemporary language of textile design, strengthening the connection between past and present.
"Zorikto is a phenomenon in the multinational Russian culture, and working with an artist of such scale is of particular value to us. We strive to follow his national vision and ability to combine epic and specific images in one work. Working with color is important to us, and, as always, we learn a lot during such joint projects. Working with traditional colors enriches our perception of the world," - Alexandra Kaloshina, founder of Radical Chic.
Zorigto Dorzhiev is an artist whose visual language combines elements of traditional Buryat painting (the technique of painting thangka - Buddhist icons on fabric), mythological stories of Central Asian nomads and modern digital technologies. His paintings often feature archetypal images - horsemen, warriors, women in national costumes - which the artist reinterprets through the prism of urban aesthetics and abstraction. One of the key themes in Dorzhiev's work is the dialogue between man and nature and the heritage of his ancestors. The artist explores how the traditional values of nomadic peoples - freedom, unity with the elements, respect for history - can exist in the context of globalization.
Zorigto Dorzhiev has participated in more than 100 exhibitions in Russia and abroad. In 2019, Zorigto Dorzhiev participated in the special project of the 58th Venice Biennale with a personal exhibition "New Steppe".
For the 7th BRICS summit, the artist developed a design for tableware and table decoration for the informal dinner of the heads of state of the association.
As a costume designer, he worked on the films Mongol by Sergei Bodrov Sr. and Heavenly Wives of the Meadow Mari by Alexei Fedorchenko. Images from Zorikto's paintings were used in the artistic and graphic design of the film Baikal. The Amazing Adventures of Yuma.
In 2023, the artist created a 31-meter graffiti “Melody of the Native Land” on the facade of the Buryatia Hotel in Ulan-Ude.
Zorikto's solo exhibitions were held at the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Museum of the Peoples of the East, the Gallery of Art of the Council of Europe, and Neumünster Abbey. Since 2024, Dorzhiev has been a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
