RBC: every second pair of shoes in Russia is sold in the gray segment

In the assortment of a third of Russian stores there are shoes imitating products of famous brands. Nearly 170 million counterfeit pairs are sold through such points; this is 35% of the shoe market. According to a survey by RBC Market Research, one third of Russians are willing to consciously buy fakes, says video report "RBC" from April 20 2018.

Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a plan to combat the illicit trafficking of goods “The task is clear - to clear the market of fake goods. They are not always safe, they can harm people who buy such goods. Conscientious companies also suffer from fakes, therefore, it is necessary to improve the legislative framework and develop a mechanism that will allow to stop the illegal circulation of such industrial goods, ”the Prime Minister said.

The measures taken have strengthened the control of customs value, plus the state is simultaneously developing a system for marking goods, which will work next year. By 2024, it is planned to create an absolutely transparent base of commodity circulation in Russia. The entire chain will be monitored from the receipt of goods in the country to the sale to its consumer. Each shoe box will have a QR code. For buyers, they will develop a mobile application that will let you know whether there is a product in the database or not.

According to a RBC study, every second pair of shoes in Russia is sold in the gray segment. Due to tax evasion, the annual loss of the state is - at least 22 billion rubles.
