The American manufacturer of sports equipment Reebok has taken another step towards creating shoes based on organic materials. In the production of new brand sneakers, materials such as cotton and corn were used, writes chicago.cbslocal.com.
It is clarified that this is not about the corn that gets on our table, but about the one that is grown to feed livestock. After harvesting, the corn is crushed, fermented into a bio-product from which, as a result, shoe models are formed.
“Our goal was to make material similar in nature to rubber, but based on corn,” comments Bill McInnis, head of Reebok Future.
According to Reebok, the shoes were very durable. Now the company is working on a new version of shoes that will be biodegradable, that is, if worn, a pair of these sneakers can be easily disposed of by burying in your own garden area.
