Retailers underestimate revenue

According to the Watcom Group, in the shopping centers of Moscow and the Moscow Region, about 50% of retailers now pay a percentage of the store’s turnover for renting premises, rather than a fixed amount. Nevertheless, a new problem has arisen in the relations between tenants and landlords - owners of outlets are trying to underestimate their income, which is why tenants lose 5-10 million rubles. from each object.

As Watcom President Roman Skorokhodov notes, “many retailers deliberately underestimate their financial performance: it can be manual entry, personnel errors, intentional or accidental reduction of data on turnover, provision of data without VAT.”

The owners of illiquid premises are forced to take such a step, experts say. The practice of understating store turnover has always been present, but now it has become more obvious.
