Russians will receive a record number of shopping centers

According to Jones Lang LaSalle analysts, in the 4 quarter of the 2013 of the year, more than 800 thousand sq. m of retail space, which is the highest quarterly figure for the past seven years.

This result was achieved mainly due to small towns (with a population of less than 1 million people) - they provided more than half (56%) of quarterly commissioning and about 44% of annual commissioning. The second place in terms of the volume of new shopping centers that appeared in the last quarter of the year is occupied by St. Petersburg (21%), the third - by regional cities with a population of over one million (14%), Moscow and the Moscow region account for 10% of the commissioning.

“Despite the high indicator of the last quarter, in general, 2013 did not become a record year for the Russian retail real estate market. The annual commissioning of retail space remained at the level of previous years and amounted to 1,65 million square meters. m. At the end of last year, the total volume of the Russian market for shopping centers reached 16 million square meters. m. For 2014, developers have scheduled the commissioning of about 2 million square meters. m of new retail space, and if all properties are opened on time, Russians will receive a record volume of new supply of shopping centers, ”says Tatyana Klyuchinskaya, head of the department of retail space at Jones Lang LaSalle.

But even this volume will become the historical maximum of the retail real estate market in Moscow, and as a result, the volume of new premises commissioned in 2014 will exceed the total figure of the previous three years. "

At the end of the year, the volume of the market for shopping centers in the Russian capital may exceed 4 million square meters. m, and the provision of the capital's residents with retail space - to reach 359 sq. m per 1 inhabitants.

According to analysts at Jones Lang LaSalle, in the 4th quarter of 2013, over 800 thousand sq. M. Were commissioned in Russia. m of retail space, which is the highest quarterly indicator for the last seven ...
