The growth in the consumption of clothes and shoes online fell back in 2013

CSI Enter and Google published a new study of the retail market and online trading in Russia. According to the results, the total revenue of the 30 largest players in the online retail market in our country, obtained through the Internet channel, amounted to more than 180 billion rubles last year - this is about a third of the e-commerce market in Russia in 2013.

The total number of Internet users in Russia increased by 7% in 2013 to 68,7 million people. Most of all on the Internet, according to Google, users are looking for electronics, as well as clothing, shoes and accessories.

Online retail turned out to be the most attractive e-commerce investment segment for 2013: the amount of funds raised in companies in this sector amounted to 58% of the total amount of transactions in e-commerce or 7 billion rubles. The bulk of this was the investment of Access Industries, Summit Partners and Tengelmann in Lamoda.ru.

A retail study showed that the growth rate of retail sales in Russia decreased from 12,0% in 2012 to 10,7% in 2013. The most noticeable decrease in consumption in Russia affected the turnover of non-food retail.

The leader in growth in the actual volume of retail sales in Russia in non-food retail at the end of 2013 was the category "Sports goods", which increased by 18,8%. The same category is leading in terms of consumption growth, which grew by 10%.

The most significant reduction in consumption growth was observed in the Watches, Clothes and Footwear categories, increasing by 1% and 3%, respectively.

Of the 10 regions of Russia leading in the turnover of non-food retail trade (excluding Moscow and St. Petersburg), Samara and Tyumen regions, as well as Bashkortostan, developed the fastest in 2013.
