Saks Fifth Avenue will open a whole department store of women's shoes

The American department store chain Saks Fifth Avenue will open the world's first shopping center dedicated exclusively to women's shoes.

The department store, which will appear in the fall of 2016, will be located near the existing Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich and will occupy an area of 1.300 sq.m. The store will feature all major shoe brands, such as Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti, Brian Atwood, Roger Vivier, Salvatore Ferragamo, Prada, etc.

Many department stores, including Bergdorf Goodman, Macy's, Barneys New York, Bloomingdale, allot floor floors for shoe sections, but so far no one has tried to separate this segment into a separate department store. According to Marc Metrick, president of Saks Fifth Avenue, a Connecticut experiment will show if it’s worth opening other similar department stores in the future.
