Current situation and forecast ”, the Russian footwear retail market is characterized by low consolidation: with about 250 retail chains operating, the shares of large players do not exceed 2-3%. At the same time, there is practically no tendency to merge, and mergers and acquisitions are rare. The retail formats presented on the Russian footwear market are quite diverse: a hypermarket; supermarket; discounter; cash & carry; shoe salon; cassette; boutique and stock store. Moreover, the supermarket and salon are the most common of them, reports retailer.ru.

However, in the mass economy segment of the footwear market, discounters are the most widespread, attracting buyers with low prices and a higher level of service than in the markets. The trade margin in them does not exceed 35%. Profitability remains at a low level and is no more than 10%. The pricing policy is focused on making a profit through accelerated turnover of funds. The frequent renewal of the discounter's collection attracts customers to visit these outlets. At the same time, the regular appearance of new products in them and the often low quality of products force buyers to return for a second purchase, reports RBC. Market Research ".
