The growth rate of the average check from August to September amounted to 40%, compared with 60% in the same period a year earlier, RIA Novosti writes with reference to a study by the OFD Platform company of the Sberbank Group (OFD Platform is the operator of fiscal data, which provides collection, storage and transmission of data from online cash registers to the Federal Tax Service).
In annual terms, the average check in September decreased by 3% and amounted to 3800-3900 rubles. At the same time, the number of purchases in comparison with September last year increased by 2%.
In August, on the contrary, the average check overtook last year's figures by 10% and amounted to 2700-2800 rubles per trip to the store. The number of purchases for the year increased by 5%.
Russian consumers adhere to the model of economical consumption, hunt for discounts, and therefore make purchases more actively in August than in September, the company believes. The seasonal decline in the number of purchases from August to September, both last year and this year, according to the company, amounted to about 50%.
