Customs gave the go-ahead. FCS supported AKIT’s proposal to introduce a single fee for goods purchased on foreign sites

As we wrote earlierThe Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT) has proposed introducing a single fee for purchases made in foreign online stores, regardless of the price of goods, at a rate of 15%. The Federal Customs Service (FCS) has approved this AKIT initiative.

The FCS believes that the abolition of the norms of importation of goods taxed by customs payments while reducing the size of the flat rate is the most effective option.

"In our opinion, the most effective option seems to be the complete abolition of non-taxable norms for the import of goods with a simultaneous reduction in the size of the single rate of customs duties and taxes," the FCS said in a statement. It is also noted that international e-commerce is a kind of foreign economic activity, therefore "goods purchased in foreign online stores are in commercial circulation and should not be classified as goods for personal use."

The introduction of a single purchase fee in foreign online stores, according to AKIT representatives, will help create equal conditions for competition in the market. A fee of 15% of foreign Internet sites is proposed to be provided for in the cost of goods for Russian buyers. According to retailers, the collection operator may be Russian Post or any logistics company.
