American holding Tapestry has agreed to sell the Stuart Weitzman shoe brand to the US-based global shoe company Caleres for $105 million. The deal will be closed in the summer of 2025. It is noted that the sale price turned out to be favorable for the acquirer.
By comparison, Tapestry paid $2015 million to buy the accessories brand Coach in 530. Tapestry will now focus on developing its remaining Coach and Kate Spade brands.
Experts note that Stuart Weitzman was a poor fit for Tapestry's management. In 2016, the brand's sales were $345 million, and the Stuart Weitzman retail network consisted of 75 stores. In 2024, the American premium shoe brand's sales were only $241 million, despite the fact that its network had grown to 94 stores, 34 in the United States and 60 outside the States.
Stuart Weitzman will complement the Caleres brand portfolio, which owns such well-known shoe brands as Dr. Scholl's, Sam Edelman, Vince and others.
